Capra Film is a young Austrian film production company with the goal of creating smart genre films with an Austrian identity for a global audience.

Capra Film are Lola Basara and Peter Hengl.

We are based in Vienna, Austria, but we see ourselves as a global company: the language of film is universal and can be understood all over the world. We are committed to making films for a global audience – together with our international partners.

We want to entertain in a smart way, with films that have something to say, that innovate, that celebrate rich visual storytelling – we want to make films that scare us, that make us laugh, cry, and most of all: think and feel with our hearts and minds.

We have a strong focus on genre films – especially horror – as well as comedy. And we love to collaborate with interesting talents, both seasoned veterans as well as new discoveries.

All of this we proved with our first feature film, FAMILY DINNER. FAMILY DINNER premiered at Tribeca Film Festival 2022 and played at over 30 festivals worldwide, including Fantastic Fest, BIFAN, FrightFest, Sitges Film Festival and many more. It sold to many key territories including USA, UK, Japan, Germany, Italy, Spain, and many more. Now, we are working on our ever-expanding slate of new projects in various stages of development.

Green Commitment

As a company, we are committed to sustainability. We follow up to date guidelines in green producing because while we think the apocalypse can be fun in a horror movie, we don’t want to experience it in real life. There is no Planet B! Let’s work together for a better future.
